London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games - opportunities to engage

The London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games will focus the world’s attention on our capital city in just over three years’ time and you can be part of it.  

 

The Ethnic Minority Business Group and the Hindu Council UK  held a Business led event with the Greater London Authority and London Organising Committee of the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games to help understand how  to access the many opportunities available to businesses and community organisations.

 

There were  representatives from the procurement and cultural team from the LOCOG explaining how  to bid for and win contracts and take part in the cultural events. The  London Business Network  explained  how  to use the ‘Competefor’ site to gain contracts.

 

There were a number of high profile business and community leaders and politicians from the Asian  community  who  attend and spoke at the event.  The speakers  included Alok Mitra (Chair, Ethnic Minority Business Group),CB Patel (Publisher/Editor, Asian Voice & Gujarat Samachar), Dolar Popat (CEO of TLC group - Holiday Inn Express),

Dr. Rami Ranger MBE, FRSA- Managing Director of Sun Mark Ltd and Kamel Hothi (Asian Markets Director Lloyds TSB), politicians include  Navin Shah (London Assembly Member), Councillor Yogesh Teli (Harrow),Anjana Patel, Councillor, London Borough of Harrow  and community leaders include Anil Bhanot (Gen Sec of HCUK) Dilip Joshi (Equality & Representation HCUK) and Dhruv Patel (Chairman - City Hindu network).

 

The delegates to this event come mainly from the Indian business communities and there was a good mix from the wider community as well.   Also see VIP guests below.
